About Us

Our name says a lot about us - Epiphany Lutheran Church

Epiphany means a divine appearance, manifestation or revelation. The greatest epiphany of God is the appearence and revelation of  Jesus Christ, the very Son of God, our Savior. The apostle John writes, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God... through Him all things were made... In Him was life, and that life was the light of mankind. The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it... The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth." The Savior Jesus continues to manifest His glory to us through the Word of God, particularly through the preaching of the Gospel and the administration of the Sacraments (Baptism and the Lord's Supper). Our purpose and mission is to extend the divine epiphany and glory of our Savior to as many as will hear the Gospel.

Lutheran is what we are theologically. The great church reformer of the 16th century, Martin Luther, proclaimed the pure Gospel, which had been nearly lost within the Christian church.  We don't follow Luther per say, but the pure Gospel he rediscovered and boldly proclaimed.  Luther's rose symbol on this page declares the essence of this Gospel and the Lutheran faith, namely, our faith is based on the Word of God alone (not our reason or any man's thinking), which clearly proclaims that we are saved by grace alone (meaning the grace found in the person and work of Jesus Christ), through faith alone (meaning not our works but Christ's works alone save us).  Our deep appreciation for the Lutheran tradition is also seen in our liturgical worship, which is faithfully based on Holy Scripture and has been used and passed down from generation to generation for millinia by Christ's church.

Church means a Christian group or fellowship who share a common faith and purpose. Our common faith and purpose are declared throughout our website. We rejoice in this Gospel and the fellowship it provides. We are blessed that it is Christ's church, based on His eternal Word and work and purpose, not some ever-changing way or philosophy of the world.

3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. 4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5 he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.

7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace 8 that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding, 9 he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, 10 to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.

11 In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, 12 in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. 13 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.  [Ephesians 1:3-14 NIV]
